Introducing Sammy
Hey, I'm Sammy. Brenda's son and Faith's brother. I will be writing occasionally. It's kind of like a guest-star type thing. Anyway, I know on the last entry that Faith mentioned that Mom is crazy with her characters. I seem to recall that Mom was nearly in tears when she stopped working on Cara, the main character of Julia's Kitchen. Let's just say that was an awkward moment. Like Faith, I am extremely proud of Mom and her success. So far she has gotten two awards. One for her manuscript and one for her book. Right now she is working on a book called Jemma Hartman, Camper Extraordinaire. If you have any questions or comments, send them in and we'll try to answer them.

H Faith and Sammy! I'm Yi Shun, and I only know your mom through the egroup on the SCBWI-Il listserv. I think this 'blog is a GREAT idea--you guys have such a unique perspective on us writers! (Not to mention, this 'blog will get YOU writing too!)

Congratulations on your new blog! It's a great idea - and you both are excellent writers. Normally I am quite shy about posting on blogs, but since I know your mom I am feeling brave. Here's a question for you: do you recognize events, words, actions, mannerisms in your mom's work? For example, a phrase YOU have used, or something like that? How do you think a children's book author might be influenced by her very own children?
P.S. I am not really a granny. It's a nickname my cousins gave me when I was 10 years old. I will only be commenting under the granny handle on your blog - hopefully it will make your mom giggle when she's sees "granny" here. :)
