Writing/Love

Libba Bray wrote the funniest post ever about how writing a novel is like falling in love. I'm so glad I'm not alone in my craziness.

Check it out: http://libba-bray.livejournal.com/36896.html

Meanwhile, I've got to get back to my first draft... I'm supposed to be madly in love with the story at this point. Hmm....

Y'know, reading it, I felt pretty much the opposite of a lot of what she wrote. Initial excitement aside, I have a terrible time with first drafts! And I never finish a rough draft feeling enamored of it. I really prefer the revision process. [She says, knowing that could very well change with the next book she attempts...]

I hate first drafts, too. But I do feel that oh-you're-so-perfect-I-love-you feeling at the beginning and ending of the first draft. It's just the actual writing of the whole thing that's torture!
